Dancing in Lausanne

The city on Lake Geneva’s shores has always been in the dance spotlight.

Back in 1915 Lausanne welcomed the illustrious Ballets Russes, one of the world’s most famous ensembles, whose dancers had scattered throughout Europe because of the war. The Ballets were re-formed by their choreographer Serge Diaghilev in Lausanne itself, where they found not only rehearsal spaces but also a refuge.
